Designing and creating
garments has been my passion for the past 40 years. While attending
a sewing convention, I had the opportunity to take a bearmaking
class from a Canadian teddy bear artist. I
became addicted immediately. Then a search for every book
available on the subject of bear making and designing began.
After gaining as much knowledge as possible on the subject, I
dedicated myself to mastering the craft. My world now seems to
revolve around making these little creatures. I become excited about
each and every new “creature” as they seem to come alive and become
a part of my family until they are “adopted”. Each bear takes on a
personality of its own and no two bears are ever “identical” but
they all have one thing in common—the love and happiness they
will bring to their new owner. Quality and attention to
detail go into every creation making them a keepsake for generations
to come. One of my most rewarding moments was to learn that a cancer
patient who had received one of my bears as a “thinking of you” gift
was taking her bear with her for comfort as she underwent her chemo
treatments. I firmly believe“the love
of a bear will follow you everywhere.”
